??Kirby School seeks a part-time (20%) Dance Teacher for the 2022-23 school year. The ideal candidate should have expertise in teaching and choreographing for a variety of ages and skill levels in contemporary, modern, hip-hop, African, and other diverse dance forms. We are committed to ongoing curricular and pedagogical anti-racist work, and we seek a candidate who shares that commitment and who can contribute to our efforts. As an important member of our community, this position requires a commitment to collaboration, and active participation in ongoing dance curriculum development and collaborative dance-making.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach a wide range of dance forms for students at all levels
- Design creative, engaging, and differentiated lessons for students
- Plan assignments and curriculum in collaboration with the Art department; contribute to departmental projects and goals as a team member
- Engage one-on-one with students for support and enrichment
- Identify students’ strengths/challenges through effective oral and written communication
- Support the mission of Kirby School
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
- Extensive professional dance experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience teaching dance in a school setting
- Diverse range of dance styles and techniques
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
