The 4th grade Lead Teacher is a professional, experienced and passionate educator with teaching experience at the Elementary school level.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create age appropriate lesson plans
- Attend and participate in curriculum planning meetings
- Participate in committee work, faculty meetings, parent coffees and additional duties as assigned
- Lead parent conferences and maintain weekly communication with parents throughout the year.
- Work in a highly collaborative community to develop and implement a creative and challenging curriculum
- Demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to, New Roads philosophy and approach to education
- Demonstrate commitment to social justice and working with a diverse community
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of subject matter and effectiveness in teaching
- Demonstrate an ability to assess students at their appropriate developmental levels
- Ability to differentiate for individual students based on their unique learning needs so students are appropriately engaged and challenged
- Maintain and communicate high expectations and boundaries in a consistently kind, clear and respectful manner
- Provide students with opportunities and support in the development of critical thinking and problem solving skills, the exploration of ideas, and the development of leadership qualities
- Communicate with parents and students and the ability to collaborate with other members of the faculty
QUALIFICATIONS
-
3+ years teaching experience at the lower elementary level, preferably in an independent school

A Bachelors Degree in a related educational field required

Demonstrated knowledge of sound pedagogical skills
-
Strong background in math and reading instruction at the upper elementary level

Experience and interest in differentiated instruction and a project-based, constructivist approach to teaching and learning

Background/interest/passion for teaching language arts, mathematics, social studies, and in a self contained classroom

Strong communication (written and oral) and organizational skills
-
Strong foundation in child development

Possess excellent classroom management skills

Empathy, integrity, professionalism

Capacity to lead in stressful situations

Ability to communicate with diverse audiences

Sense of humor and an authentic passion for teaching

Have passion for personal and professional growth
