The Northwest School is a college-preparatory, co-educational independent school near the heart of downtown Seattle. We offer a rich and challenging program to about 450 students in grades 6 through 12, including international students, many of whom live in our campus dormitory.

Our arts classes are taught by professional artists, dancers, and musicians, who believe that a well-rounded education depends upon an understanding of the creative process that only participation in many art forms can produce.
Northwest seeks one full-time, or two part-time performing arts teachers to teach the following choir and orchestra courses:
- Upper School Choir: This non-auditioned choir open to all student 9th-12th grade.
- Middle School Choir: This non-auditioned choir is open to all Middle School Students, regardless of prior experience. (1st Trimester)
- Middle School Show Choir (2nd-3rd Trimester) This auditioned course is open to singers with prior singing experience, based on Audition or Recommendation by Teacher.
- Upper School Orchestra: 9th-12th grade orchestra course. All students must have prior playing experience to join this ensemble.
- Middle School Orchestra: 6th-8th grade orchestra class, all students must have prior playing experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
All candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the schools mission, values, and philosophy, especially related to diversity, equity, and inclusion; environmental sustainability, and global perspective.
A bachelor's degree and minimum 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
Demonstrated success with culturally responsive pedagogy.
Experience teaching a diverse student body through a social justice lens.
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 4-5 years teaching experience teaching
Experience and interest in teaching different grade-levels and/or subject matter.
Experience developing and implementing new curriculum
