Sidwell Friends, a coeducational Quaker Day school, seeks fun and energetic part-time assistants to work in the Middle School Extended Day Program located on its Washington, DC campus. Hours for the program will be Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 3:00pm-6:00pm and Tuesdays from 1:45pm-6:00pm. Candidates with availability all 5 days will be prioritized; however, we will consider candidates who have availability 3 or more days during the specified time frames.
Daily responsibilities for our assistants:
- Interact with middle school aged students (grades 5-8) to support play, exploration, and learning.
- Plan and implement activities that meet the COVID-19 health and safety protocols.
- Meet the individual needs of each child.
- Participate in staff and training meetings.
- Present expectations that are appropriate to the child’s age and developmental level.
- Communicate appropriately and professionally with parents and fellow staff.
- Build teamwork.
- Follow all COVID-19 protocols established by the Sidwell Friends community.
Successful candidates should be 18 years of age or older, possess a high school diploma and have prior experience working with children. Additional qualifications include effective communication skills, flexibility, patience, a sense of humor and a demonstrated love for working with young children and their families.
Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification is required; however, if you are not CPR/AED certified you will have the opportunity to complete the course upon hire.
Successful candidates will need to successfully complete all background checking requirements at the time of hire.
