Riverstone International School is looking to hire an energetic art teacher to join its Elementary School team. This position involves teaching students from preschool through grade 5. Experience and/or knowledge of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) is advantageous. Responsibilities include: 1) Teaching an established Primary Years Programme visual arts curriculum 2) Plan and work collaboratively with Riverstone ES Faculty 3) Developing daily lesson plans 4) Establishing and maintaining a classroom climate conducive to learning 5) Promoting artistic expression 6) Utilizing outside resources to enrich the curriculum 7) Plan and collaborate with the ES Music teacher for an Annual Spring Arts Festival. 8) Plan and execute with students, art pieces for the Annual Auction fundraiser. Qualifications include a teaching certification with an endorsement in art, two years of teaching experience, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with parents and school personnel.
Elementary Teacher / Specialist Interventionist Primary Function: Elementary school faculty will teach children in grades Preschool – Grade 5 in academic, social, and other related skill areas to assist children, their parents and others in aiding children to adjust to a structured educational environment. Other duties and functions may be required and are at the discretion of the Elementary School Director.
Line of Authority: Directly responsible and answerable to the Elementary School Director.
Teaching Hours: All faculty must have a total of 27 or more designated hours of student responsibility/contact time in order to be considered a full-time employee; those with less than this amount are considered a part-time employee.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities: All homeroom teachers are required to instruct students in reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, and PYP Units of Inquiry. Specialist teachers will instruct students in their field of study per the curriculum outlined for that subject.
All faculty will: 1. Provide pastoral care, safety, safeguarding and outstanding academic opportunities for Riverstone students. 2. Ensure that children in your care feel happy, safe, and secure and support those children who aren’t. 3. Provide excellent learning opportunities and robust responsive teaching which promotes progress. 4. Plan and deliver teaching and learning activities in line with the school’s pedagogy and philosophy to maximize student engagement and learning. 5. Provide accurate and timely assessments of student achievement and maintain accurate and complete student records as required. 6. Assign and grade class work, homework, and tests in a timely fashion. 7. With the guidance of the PYP Coordinator and Elementary School Director, continually evaluate, revise, and/or update curricula, course content and course materials. 8. Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, visits by speakers, and other experiential activities. 9. Adhere to an open-door policy, meaning to students come first 10. Attend weekly PYP meetings with PYP Coordinator during prep times and weekly after-school staff meetings 11. Be responsible for timely communication with parents in any circumstances that warrant it, both written and oral, and timely entry of narratives at the end of each grading period. 12. Faculty are responsible for attending Parent/Faculty events as deemed necessary by the Elementary School Director. 13. Participate in staff development activities and in-services as required or assigned.
