REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

• A bachelor’s degree in an education or discipline-related field, advanced degree preferred
• Classroom experience teaching at the middle school level
• Demonstrated passion for project and activity-based instruction of middle school students
• Experience in developing curriculum for middle school students
• Experience teaching and using a variety of presentation software for creating visual media
• Ability to integrate technology, use innovative curricula, and employ best pedagogical practices
• Understanding of the developmental needs of middle school students
• Ability to differentiate instruction when necessary to reach all levels of learners
• Collaborative spirit in developing curricula and teaching methods, both within the department and across other disciplines
• Flexibility, optimism, creativity, high expectations, and a growth mindset
• Enthusiastic involvement in the school community outside the classroom
• Proven positive working relationships with colleagues, students, and families
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proven organizational skills
• Passion for the uniqueness of middle years learners

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES AS REQUIRED:

• Teach four-five academic classes (Social Studies/English);
• Serve as faculty advisor small group of middle school students;
• Lead a homeroom group of students;
• Lead extra-curricular activities as agreed upon with the Head of Middle School;
• Participate leading students in multi-night excursions into the field;
• Support the school, its mission, and its leadership
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
