Alumni Relations Manager
The Alumni Relations Manager is the key Idyllwild Arts Foundation representative to Academy Alumni. This position aims to engage alumni in a mutually beneficial and long-term connection to each other, to IAF, and to encourage alumni involvement and philanthropy towards IAF to support our mission and goals.
GENERAL DUTIES
The Alumni Relations Manager fosters a culture of engagement among alumni of IAF. This position also takes primary responsibility, guided by strategic direction from the Director of Annual Giving and Engagement, for the planning, implementing, producing, managing, and staffing of all alumni-related events, receptions, and travel. The Manager will work closely with personnel across several campus departments, including Development, Maintenance, Housekeeping, and Dining Services departments. This position may require some non-regular work hours, and US and international travel.
- Create and manage an Alumni Directory accessible by all alumni constituents to stay
connected to one another and IAF beyond their academic years - Develop Idyllwild Arts Alumni communities to create a culture of involvement/engagement
- Educate current students about the culture of philanthropy to foster a desire to invest in IAF when they become alumni
- With the Development team, actively identify, cultivate, and motivate alumni to make charitable gifts to IAF
- Develop systems to capture and archive comprehensive data, stories, quotes, successes, etc., of our alumni to share across the greater IAF community
- Actively recruit notable alumni for program participation, during open houses, meetings with prospective families, etc.
- Working with Arts Enterprise Laboratory Staff, identify notable alumni to return to campus to speak, give masterclasses, or serve on panel discussions
- Work across campus, with Marketing, Enrollment Management, College Counseling, and arts majors to create a campus-wide culture of keeping in touch with alumni, and relaying that information back to the Development Office
- As directed, will work with the Office of the President and Development Staff to create opportunities for IAF to share our vision and strategic goals with alumni with the long-term goal of increased philanthropic support
- Work with the Development Staff to identify and qualify key alumni to include in major gift portfolios
- Envision and implement engagement events across the US and internationally, designed to educate and cultivate meaningful relationships with alumni to influence increased philanthropic support and engagement with IAF
- Manage the IAF Class Captain program - identifying prospects, tracking and maintaining the list of captains, and following up regularly with ways they can volunteer. Engage class captains with various annual fund initiatives, such as giving day
- Raise the profile of alumni on campus by highlighting alumni accomplishments during all school and other venues
- Envision and implement alumni reunions on and off-campus
- Explore online and digital engagement networking tools for alumni
- Contribute to school social media accounts such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Vimeo to strengthen online presence and communication
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Thorough knowledge of commonly used internet-based office management systems; preferred experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace; familiarity or ability to learn CRM database operations (Raiser's Edge) and online video conferencing platforms (Zoom).

Education/Experience
- 2+ years of independent school experience, alumni or parent relations experience strongly preferred
- Proven experience in engaging key constituencies at a school or other non-profit
- Experience working with volunteers and board members preferred
Other Requirements
- Ability and desire to work and live within the Idyllwild community, Riverside County, or commute a reasonable distance, that does not impede on-time arrival during winter months.
- Obtain and maintain a valid California Driver's License, pass a criminal history background check as required by California Education Code Section 44237, and pass a TB screening questionnaire/test.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this position, an incumbent is required to:
- Regularly remain sedentary for long periods in meetings and while processing information and paperwork both manually and on a computer.
- Specific vision abilities include close, distance, and color vision perception and the ability to adjust eye focus. Reaching with the hands and arms and using of hands to finger, type, and manipulate a computer keyboard and mouse is required.
- The incumbent must be able to converse in clear English both written and orally, over a telephone and in person, and be able to make public presentations.
- Work hours vary and may include days, nights, and weekends.
