Stoneleigh-Burnham School, an independent girls’ boarding and day school for grades 7-12, seeks an Assistant/Associate Director of Enrollment focusing on equestrian, day, and 5-day boarding admissions.
Located in the Pioneer Valley, a short drive from the Five College Consortium (UMass Amherst, Smith, Mount Holyoke, Hampshire and Amherst College), Stoneleigh-Burnham School is the only girls’ school in New England to offer the IB Diploma Programme and attracts students from the local area and around the world. Reporting to the Director of Enrollment Management, the Assistant Director assumes direct responsibility for implementing and managing the strategy around recruitment of prospective equestrian students as well as day and five-day boarding students. With this principal duty of recruitment, you will also administer an admission portfolio working primarily with all prospective riders and their families, day and five-day boarding families. The day family recruitment will be primarily for our middle school. You will also serve as the team point for financial aid and business office intersections and collaborative work in partnership with the Director. Through the development and active fostering of relationships, you engage with prospective families through all phases of recruitment, from inquiry to enrollment, embodying and proactively promoting the Stoneleigh-Burnham School mission.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Increase New Student Recruitment and Enrollment
- You will independently administer a portfolio of prospective students and families. This portfolio will include all constituents within the incumbent’s program area - equestrians across all grades, day students (primarily middle school) and five-day boarding.
- You will collaborate with the directors of the Equestrian Center to recruit at shows, competitions and other opportunities as they arise.
- You will foster, develop and maintain relationships with local and regional school representatives.
- You will function as the primary point for families within the portfolio, using high relationship management skills to assist them across all phases of recruitment - inquiry to application to admission and enrollment.
- You will serve as the primary point of contact for consultants and agents relevant to the portfolio.
Partner with the Financial Aid and Enrollment Implementation
- You will assist the Director of Enrollment Management and partner with the business office in the execution and implementation of our financial aid for current and enrolling students.
- You will help answer families’ questions about the financial aid process.
- You will maintain and update records in the SSS portal and the school database as needed.
- You will partner with the business office team to ensure information and data is correct across all systems.
- You will submit relevant and timely updates for the SBS website, newsletter and social media regarding financial aid and scholarships.
- You will seek professional development opportunities related to financial aid best practices.
Facilitate Interdepartmental and Intradepartmental Collaboration
- You will serve as the team liaison to strategically relevant department(s) within the school, aligned with the incumbent’s portfolio and all applicable areas of financial aid, data and enrollment.
- You will partner closely with the Advancement Department as it pertains to families within your portfolio.
- You will actively seek opportunities to partner with faculty, staff and administration to achieve mutually beneficial results when applicable and build overall SBS camaraderie.
- You will develop, demonstrate and promote multicultural awareness and contribute to cultivating an inclusive, diverse and inclusive community.

Qualities and Qualifications:
- You are a rider and are familiar with equestrian competitions.
- You are comfortable traveling across the country and enjoy meeting new people.
- You have 1+ years of admissions or relevant experience, preferably at an independent school.
- You are knowledgeable of databases and admission platforms, SchoolAdmin and SSS preferred.
- You have a demonstrated ability to connect with students, families, and organizations across cultural, geographic, and linguistic differences.
- You maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
- You are a proactive collaborator within and across teams and departments.
- You have a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- You have a demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional growth and development
- You have the desire to work in a boarding school community and be invested in campus life
