General Summary
Westminster School has an exciting opportunity for a Campus Store Manager on its Simsbury, CT campus. The Campus Store Manager oversees and directs the day-to-day management of the campus store, including daily activities and schedules, inventory management, and distribution of materials. Reporting to the Director of Business Services, the Campus Store Manager is a 10-month position (mid-August through mid-June) working Monday through Friday, 8am-4:30pm. Some weekend hours may be required during special events.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the performance of the school’s retail and on-line stores to address student/campus needs and to maximize contribution margin.
- Coordinate all operational aspects of store activities including staff scheduling, merchandising, promotions, customer service cash handling and closeout. Ensure the highest standards for quality and customer service are met.
- Responsible for managing the online store. Enhance overall product visibility and availability, ensuring accurate and timely fulfillment of website and phone orders.
- Oversee receipt and verification of incoming shipments.
- Ensure orderly storage of incoming shipments and goods; maintain detailed records of available products and their storage locations.
- Ensure that an accurate inventory record of goods is maintained in accordance with established procedures. Update database when orders are fulfilled.
- Conduct regular inventory checks, random checks on at least a weekly basis, and thorough checks on at least a monthly basis. Properly order new products and supplies avoiding excessive surplus or inefficiencies. Communicate results of inventory reviews to Director of Business Services.
- Together with Director of Marketing and Director of Business Services, plan artwork and product designs that are consistent with school branding policies.
- Collaborate with Director of Business Services to place orders and schedule future shipments.
- Plan and manage promotional activity, including email marketing, social media, and campus communications to improve visibility across all customer constituencies.
- Research and recommend programs, policies, and procedures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Campus Store, including new software, internal controls, new electronic payment technologies, and customer service.
- Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships. Negotiate pricing, quality, and delivery, coordinating purchase and accountability for all products.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field preferred.
- Three to five years of related experience required. Experience in a campus store setting strongly preferred.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite. Experience with Blackbaud, Shopify, and My Kid Spending a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Thorough understanding of store procedures and policies.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to keep accurate records.
- Must be positive and get along with visitors, vendors, students, and colleagues.
