We are seeking a full-time Lab Technician and Research/Administrative Assistant, starting September 2022, to join an exceptionally collegial engaged and proactive STEM program. STEM at Dalton consists of the following departments: Science, Computer Science, Engineering and Math. This role is primarily based in the Science and Engineering departments. We are committed to ongoing curricular and pedagogical anti-racist work, and we seek a candidate who shares that commitment and who can contribute to our efforts. Our ideal candidate is passionate and knowledgeable about science, lab setup and breakdown, and working with high school students.
Responsibilities:
- In charge of the set-up, breakdown, and cleanliness of labs and classroom activities.
- Conducts inventory checks, organizes and maintains materials, and provides up-to-date lists with location of equipment and materials to department chairs.
- Teaches HS science research classes on research methods, molecular biology, and data analysis.
- Manages orders and ordering of program-specific equipment and supplies.
- Maintains appropriate safety and hygiene standards.
- Collaborates with the Science Research Coordinator and the Engineering Makerspace Coordinator where necessary.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years of related experience
- Strong organizational skills, flexible, comfortable collaborating and open to feedback.
- Exhibit a passion for STEM fields
- Bachelor’s Degree required
