Laguna Blanca School is a college preparatory, coeducational day school located on two campuses in Santa Barbara, California. Grades EK-4 are located on a quaint campus in Montecito, while Grades 5-12 are located on Laguna’s historic campus in idyllic Hope Ranch. Laguna Blanca emphasizes its core values of scholarship, character, balance, and community in its programs.
Laguna Blanca is looking for a long-term substitute to cover our Lower School Spanish classes and one 5th Grade Spanish at our Hope Ranch Campus. This contract will be for 3 months in the Fall of 2022.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lesson planning and preparation for Spanish program using the school’s curriculum
- Knowledge of interdisciplinary teaching and differentiated instruction
- Ability to address a range of student learning styles
- Experience in collegial collaboration and curriculum development
- Use and knowledge of technology in education
- Ability to successfully develop and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, students, and families
- Enforces safety and security standards for students, staff, and visitors
- Maintains required documentation for individual student files, attendance and incident reports, and other necessary records
- Maintains knowledge of research, developments, and best practices in early education
- Performs related tasks such as sponsoring student activities or organizations, chaperoning lunch and recess

QUALIFICATIONS
The most qualified applicants will have elementary classroom experience and must possess a strong desire to take an active role in the classroom. Candidates should be technologically proficient and possess excellent communication skills. Bachelor's Degree and experience expected, advanced degree and teaching credential preferred. This position could range from part- to full-time, depending on the needs of the candidate and the school.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
- Must be able to traverse school facility and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency
