Description
We are seeking a full-time Middle School homeroom and humanities teacher for the 2022-2023 school year for our 7th Grade classroom. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the pastoral care of the students, teaching social studies and language arts. This teacher is also responsible for the social and emotional curriculum for their grade level.

- Experience with teaching humanities (social studies and language arts) to Middle School students with a commitment to integration of the two disciplines
- Understanding of exploratory, inquiry-based approach with real world application
- Undergraduate degree required and completed master’s degree preferred in content area
- Ability to motivate and stimulate children's learning abilities through a range of experiences
- Ability to cultivate and maintain a safe and inclusive classroom culture that values all voices and appreciates various perspectives
- Experience in creating a safe environment for students to ask questions, take risks, problem solve and communicate their thinking.
- Proficient with using technology (Google Suite and use of Smart Panels and Chromebooks)
- Experience developing curriculum with knowledge of assessment practices
- Knowledge and experience with maintaining written records of individual student development, which includes competency checklists, narrative comments on reports and leading conferences with parents and students
- Collaborative and creative educator who is willing to work with colleagues of diverse backgrounds on pedagogical approaches, curricular alignment and instructional strategies with flexibility and resourcefulness
- Interpersonal skills to interact effectively and sensitively with a diverse population of students, faculty and parent body
- Skilled writer and communicator with a focus on timely communications with families
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree required and completed masters degree preferred. A teaching certificate or credential or equivalent professional experience which would translate to successful classroom teaching.
