Upper School Mathematics Teacher
University Liggett School seeks a full-time, experienced Upper School mathematics teacher for grades 9-12 for the 2022-2023 school-year.
Responsibilities:
- Teach four or five sections of mathematics
- Build and maintain a classroom environment centered upon differentiated instruction, providing opportunities for every student to advance their fluency and other skills
- Craft, adapt, and utilize quality assessment materials, analyze assessment data, and use that data to adjust instruction
- Work directly with students to supplement and support their mathematics instruction outside of regular class periods when needed
- Create an equitable and inclusive class environment that promotes integrity, respect, and empathy
- Collaborate with colleagues and engage in department discussions about teaching and learning
- Participate actively in advancing the Mathematics Department’s curriculum and the Liggett Approach to education
- Serve as an Upper School advisor
- Communicate thoughtfully, professionally, clearly, and frequently with parents
- Participate actively and positively in the life of the school

Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree or higher in mathematics, mathematics education, or an equivalent field
- Enthusiasm for Upper School students, especially underclassmen, and an understanding of their developmental needs
- A thoughtful and engaging approach to teaching (with a particular emphasis upon differentiation), learning, and assessment
- A growth mindset about teaching practices and an eagerness to work toward professional goals and development
- A keen desire to work in a collaborative, inclusive, and student-centered environment
- An ability to connect with students of diverse backgrounds to develop healthy, supportive, and responsive relationships
- Strong writing, reading, and speaking skills
- Enthusiasm for reading a wide range of texts outside of teaching
