Job Title: Middle School Assistant
Division: Administration
Reports to: Head of Middle School
Job Description: King School seeks a part-time Assistant to the Middle School. While the Assistant’s primary responsibilities are to help coordinate the administrative work of the Middle School, this role is essential in the life of the division. The Assistant is the first person to welcome all students, families, and visitors to the Middle School, helping to set a tone of joyful engagement and positivity in the community. The ideal candidate will be extremely well-organized, have strong communication skills, attend to details in work, be comfortable and proficient with a variety of technology systems, and be prepared for a fast-paced environment that requires humor, warmth, and joy.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to
- Welcome visitors to the Middle School and attend to their needs and questions.
- Separate, sort and designate all campus mail to the appropriate individuals and departments.
- Maintain the afternoon attendance for students.
- Answer telephone and direct calls in a professional manner.
- Reserve classroom and meeting rooms in the middle school building.
- Act as primary office manager for Middle School faculty--ordering and maintaining supplies; coordinating work orders; fill requests as needed.
- Support faculty with various projects as needed.
- Coordinate Middle School printing needs, including the annual planner and schedules.
- Supervise, in collaboration with the Student Billing Administrator, administration of student buses, including maintaining busing records and preparing the necessary files on a daily and weekly basis.
- Maintain the monitors displaying daily announcements in the Middle School.
- Substitute teach classes as appropriate.
Skills and Requirements:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree.
- At least five years of experience working in a professional administrative support role.
- Experience in working in a school setting is preferred.
- Professionalism and confidentiality.
- Ability to multi-task and retain details.
- Ability to remain calm and professional when unexpected situations
- Technologically adept and have the ability to embrace the various systems utilized at King.
- Proficient in MS Office and all Google Suite products.
- Strong communication skills and ability to constructively collaborate with colleagues and parents.
- Demonstrated initiative and savviness in cross-cultural competence in interactions with colleagues, ability to value, work within, interact with, and incorporate diverse and multiple perspectives. Ability to negotiate and facilitate a shared understanding and common goals across cultural differences in a professional setting.
