Moravian Academy is seeking a full-time Spanish speaking learning specialist to work with students in the Spanish Immersion Program for the 2022-23 school year. In collaboration with the Coordinator of Learning Support and Campus Assistant Directors, the successful candidate will provide direct support to students in grades Kindergarten through eight. The learning specialist will also serve on the Learning Support Team and regularly collaborate with teachers to help meet students’ needs in the classroom.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve on the Learning Support Team
- Provide direct individual or small group services to students in Spanish and/or English
- Collaborate with other school and off-campus professionals
- Collaboratively plan and co-teach with classroom teachers
- Participate in developing and implementing plans for students who qualify for learning specialist services, as well as support teachers in implementing plans with fidelity and adjusting plans based on student progress
- Write, implement, and monitor goals of students who qualify for learning specialist services
- Consult and maintain consistent communication with school personnel, student’s parents, and Coordinator of Learning Support to monitor and report on student progress;
- Engage in professional growth responsibilities keeping abreast of best practices in learning differences and neurodiversity
- Complete notes and progress reports in timely manner and according to school policy
- Document all aspects of work with students in accordance with school guidelines
- Contribute productively to the school as a whole
- Attend and participate in school events outside of regular school hours
- Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, Moravian Academy’s mission and vision
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated command of the Spanish language
- Bachelor's degree, Master's degree is preferred
- A passion for education
- Ability to adhere to a high level of professional and ethical standards
- Demonstrated knowledge of current best practices in the area of learning differences including but not limited to reading support and executive functioning skills
- Demonstrated ability to teach in the classroom setting
- Demonstrated ability to teach in 1:1 setting
- Demonstrated effective communication skills and an ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
- Demonstrated track record of being a team player and community minded
- Commitment to meeting the needs of a diverse student population
- Commitment to continued professional growth
- Excellent time management skills, flexibility, and ability to work independently and problem solve
- Proficiency with Google Docs and on-line data keeping systems
- Clearances and authorization required to work with children in the State of Pennsylvania

Duration:
This is a full-time position for the 2022-2023 academic year, starting in August 2022.
