Cheshire Academy seeks a full-time physics teacher for the upcoming 2022-23 academic year as a one-year appointment, with the possibility that the position will extend into a permanent full-time position.
The successful candidate will be able to provide quality instruction in various levels of physics as well as introductory engineering and astronomy. The syllabus, curriculum, and assessments have been planned for the year, although the hired teacher will have autonomy to make changes appropriate to achieving the goals of the course(s).
Candidates who have a dynamic presence in the classroom, an innovative and open approach to curriculum design, a collaborative approach to teaching, and who incorporate new technologies are strongly encouraged to apply. Interest in or experience with IB science is a plus, but not a requirement.
Ideally, the candidate will embrace participation in the entire boarding school experience, including advising, coaching and/or leading extra-curricular activities, and weekend team responsibilities. We will also consider candidates who are only interested in or able to commit to the teaching responsibilities during the academic day (no coaching, advising, or weekend duties).
We will consider a residential placement, if interested, in which case the candidate would have residential duties as well in exchange for housing. Non-residential candidates are also encouraged to apply.
Minimally, this candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in science, engineering, or a related subject. A Master’s degree, teaching credentials, and/or relevant teaching experience are preferred.
Salary and benefits are competitive. Candidate must be able to pass a criminal background check. Interested candidates should send a cover letter, resume, and the names of three professional references to Kristin Welage, Director of Human Resources at kristin.welage@cheshireacademy.org.
