Middlebridge School is seeking candidates for the position of Postgraduate Residential Instructor, Non-Live In.

The RI is responsible for the supervision of the PG house, one on one instruction, and guidance related to independent living and interpersonal skills. They work collaboratively with the Associate Residential Instructor to facilitate the individual goals of the students. The RI acts as a mentor, role model, surrogate parent, teacher, counselor, and coach in all areas of the residential program. The RI is expected to be committed to the success of each student, especially in the areas of social and emotional development.
Residential Instructor positions do require that faculty reside within the dormitory periodically through the week and during a rotation of assigned weekends. Residential Faculty are required to work some assigned weekends throughout the Academic School Year. This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals who want to gain experience working with adolescents, are interested in individualized and exceptional education, teaching, counseling, and mentorship, and wish to pursue work in fields relating to education, arts, athletics, counseling, and organizational leadership.
Primary Duties of Residential Instructor:
•Supervise PG house at all times outside of other assigned duties
•Maintain a safe environment for students to live and learn in
•Responsible for the cleanliness of PG house
•Plan and co-lead weekly house meetings to discuss house/student issues; build communication skills and positive group interactions
•Plan/Teach residential curriculum
•Organize house activities on a consistent basis. (i.e. birthday celebrations, community service projects, cultural activities, etc.)
•Teach life skills as associated with PG program and independent living goals: room organization, laundry skills, cooking, etc.
•Communicate with parents weekly, to gain background information about their child, collaboratively problem solve, and provide student progress throughout the year
•Plan, teach, and provide supervision of afternoon and elective classes, as designated
•Plan, teach, and provide supervision of one club night elective, as designated
•Plan, supervise and assist student participation/execution of house meals
•Maintain house supplies (follow budget, shopping, stocking staples, etc.)
•Keep an updated parent phone log and submit it to the PG Director weekly
•Submit documentation log of student’s goals and evaluation of them weekly to the PG Director
•Write residential report as needed
•Work assigned weekends during the school year
