Are you inspired by discussing mathematical ideas? Do you feel gratified by turning others on to the beauty of math? Are you eager to collaborate with colleagues, and support students in and out of the classroom? If your answer to any of these questions is yes, Ransom Everglades School encourages you to apply to become a full-time, upper school math teacher. While faculty members are expected to teach a range of math courses from year to year, if you are able to teach advanced math, such as AP calculus, multivariable calculus, or linear algebra, we are especially eager to receive your application.
Math and computer sciences -- along with science and engineering -- reside in the STEM Department which represents the school's commitment to interdisciplinary thinking and to STEM as a core element of our curriculum. We empower faculty to develop curriculum and create exciting learning opportunities for students, and to bring ideas about how we can further integrate disciplines within STEM, such as incorporating programming skills into the general curriculum. If you are interested in joining a creative, collaborative, hard-working faculty to help bright, ambitious students appreciate and apply mathematical ideas, this position may be just right for you.
Faculty members teach in our recently-opened, 40,000 square foot Fernandez STEM Center. State-of-the-art labs for life, chemical, and physical sciences, fully-equipped workshops for making and engineering, and collaborative workspaces invite experimentation, creativity, and collaboration. Learn about the STEM Center here.
Faculty members in the STEM department contribute to the department’s ongoing discussions about interdisciplinary and experiential learning, innovative assessment practices, and best practices in the use of technology in education. Ransom Everglades welcomes candidates who embrace the school’s value for inquiry-based, student-centered learning and share the school's commitment to equitable, inclusive, culturally responsive education. The school expects its faculty members to be accessible to students, collaborate with peers, participate in department meetings, be committed to professional growth, and engage in the life of the school beyond the classroom. Prior independent school teaching experience is preferred. Applicants must have at least a bachelor’s degree in a math or computer sciences-related field and be comfortable using either Microsoft Suite or Google Workspace platforms.
