Colorado Academy seeks candidates for the position of Middle School Math teacher. This is a full-time position for the 2023 – 2024 school year. The position begins in mid-August 2023.
The CA Middle School program provides a crucial bridge between our Lower and Upper School programs. Its foundation is a strong academic curriculum but is balanced by an extensive and challenging program in athletics, the arts and community service. A child's Middle School experience at Colorado Academy is characterized by small classes, high standards, a faculty committed to the growth of every student and an abiding belief that the most successful learners are the most active and involved learners.
Learning at CA is not confined to the classroom. Learning opportunities abound. The school’s experiential Interim program, student-generated club activities, and a broad-based community service program are among the hallmarks of every student’s Middle School experience.
Responsibilities:
- Teach 4 Middle School math sections
- Advise a group of approximately 13 students
Desired Qualities and Qualifications:
- At least three years of math teaching experience working with middle school students (grades 6 through 8)
- Experience differentiating instruction
- Is a problem-solver at heart and able to guide students through an inquiry-based, thought-provoking program, balancing conceptual understanding with skill-based learning
- Demonstrated leadership in developing innovative, vibrant, rigorous programming
- Collaborates well with a team of teachers
- Committed to put the development of the whole child first
- Comfortable with the role of technology
- Ability to coach is a plus
Candidates should be eager to join a professional community where collaboration is valued, where rich curricular conversations are common, and where openness to growth is the norm. Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Demonstrated intercultural competence: the ability to understand and bridge diverse perspectives, identities, and lived experiences is a must. Additionally, candidates will be expected to share in the day-to-day life of the school community, which includes organizing and running a one-week Middle School Interim, and serving as a grade-level advisor.
All CA teachers are expected to carry out the mission of CA, "Creating Curious, Kind, Courageous, and Adventurous Learners and Leaders," and to support the vision of the Upper School.
The pay range for the position is $50,000 - $75,000. Although $50,000 - $75,000 is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting, Colorado Academy reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. Any wage differential that may exist for the position does not relate to sex, gender or gender identity, but relates solely to a seniority system, a merit system, or relevant education, training and/or experience.
Applicants are invited to visit the Colorado Academy website (www.coloradoacademy.org) to learn more about the program and the school.
