Head of School
Carondelet High School is seeking a strategic and visionary leader as its next President starting in the summer of 2023. Since its founding in 1965 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, Carondelet High School has been preparing young women to be bold, confident leaders in the classroom, in the community, and in the world. An independent Catholic high school serving young women in grades 9-12, Carondelet offers students a challenging college preparatory curriculum with a full range of AP and Honors courses, as well as personalized academic support for students of all abilities. Situated 30 miles east of San Francisco in Concord, California, Carondelet is at full enrollment with 800 students from 60 zip codes, reflecting the rich diversity of the East Bay. For additional information about Carondelet High School, please visit the website at: https://www.carondeleths.org/.
Reporting directly to the Board of Trustees, the President is both the Chief Executive Officer and the spiritual leader at Carondelet High School. The primary responsibility of the President is to foster a school environment compatible with the philosophy and spirit of the Sisters of St Joseph of Carondelet, the founders and sponsors of Carondelet, and position Carondelet as the leading college preparatory school in Northern California. The next President will lead a strong executive leadership team and will enthusiastically support the school's mission and values while also developing and articulating a vision for the future.
While the President will likely have leadership experience in Catholic or independent schools, it is possible that the individual could have attained this experience through a variety of different career paths, including K-12 education, higher education, other nonprofit leadership positions, or possibly the corporate or public sectors. It is, however, important for the President to have a demonstrated capacity for broad institutional leadership in a complex organization and success in major gift fundraising. The salary range is $250,000 to $325,000 and relocation assistance, if needed, is negotiable.
