MSNV is seeking a passionate, creative teacher who has the desire to design and deliver a project-based Humanities curriculum suitable for 7th and 8th grade students and has the ability to utilize various teaching strategies effectively. This is an opportunity to join our growing school starting in August, 2023. The teacher will have the opportunity to provide quality, differentiated instruction and build meaningful relationships with his/her/their students. The candidate should have strong writing and communications skills and a solid understanding of history, writing, language arts and the vast genre of literature connected to various historical events.
The 7th and 8th grade Humanities teacher is responsible for the humanities instruction, curriculum development, and extended program activities in Middle School. The candidate should have an appreciation and respect for the social and emotional development of adolescents and their individuality. The candidate will also be willing to take on exciting opportunities to promote the Middle School. The position requires maintaining a full teaching load, serving as an advisor to a small cohort of students, and active support of various student life activities.

- Collaborates well with colleagues of diverse backgrounds on pedagogical approaches, curricular alignment and instructional strategies.
- Promotes the use of multiple methods in solving problems, identifying more efficient strategies and generalizing principles to a broad variety of applications.
- Encourages collaborative teamwork in the classroom, teaching students to communicate effectively and thoughtfully, justify their reasoning and to consider multiple perspectives when solving problems.
- Invests in the life of the school by participating in the advisory program, social and emotional learning, weekly team meetings, and any and all aspects that support the student experience.
- Demonstrates professional behavior, including discretion, judgment and integrity.
- Effectively interacts with a diverse population of students and faculty.
Bachelor's degree in English, History or related field, or /equivalent professional experience which would translate to successful classroom teaching. Middle School or High School experience preferred. Montessori experience is not required, but an understanding of the philosophy is required as well as being in alignment with MSNV’s mission.
