REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: Head of School
OVERVIEW: Serve as divisional director for our 230-student high school and assist the Head of School as second-in-charge in all school matters. Direct academic and supporting programs; evaluate faculty and personnel reporting directly (see below); oversee student activities, student discipline, and academic support; attend board meetings; serve and lead committees, and be a visible and highly engaged leader in the school community.
SUPERVISES: Faculty, Middle School Head, US Dean of Students, Department Heads, Director of Studies, Director of Environmental and Experiential Learning, College Counseling Team, School Counselor, Learning Specialist, Front Office Staff, Registrar, Division Heads’ Assistant.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Undergraduate degree in an academic discipline related to secondary school curriculum.
- Advanced degree in an academic discipline related to secondary school curriculum or school administration.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Five years of teaching at the secondary level.
- Two years of independent school administrative experience in one or more areas: admissions, curriculum development, college counseling, department chair, faculty supervision and evaluation, student counseling, or financial aid processing.
SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong organizational skills. The ability to establish procedures, create information systems and maintain accurate records.
- Strong communications skills. Accurate, concise, tactful writing style.
- Strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to participate as a leader, team member, and mediator.
