Greenwich Country Day School (GCDS) is an independent, co-educational day school with a current enrollment of over 1400 students in grades N-12, and a faculty and staff of over 400. The original Old Church Road campus is home to grades N-8. The new Upper School (9-12,) established in 2019, is located less than two miles away on the Stanwich Road campus. Greenwich Country Day School seeks an Assistant or Associate Director of Admission, to start in July 2023. This position will report to the Director of Enrollment and Financial Aid and assist with all aspects of admission and enrollment management. Ideal candidates will possess strong database skills and demonstrated experience using data for strategic thinking along with exceptional interviewing skills and the ability to meaningfully engage prospective students and families and steward them through the admission process. This is a 12-month/year, full-time position.
Responsibilities Include:
- Work collaboratively with the admission team in all aspects of the admission process from inquiry to enrollment; including fielding questions, scheduling student visits, conducting parent and student interviews, and coordinating admission events and new family onboarding
- Serve as a member of the Admission Committee to review files, recommend, and select mission-aligned candidates and families for admission
- Work with the Director of Enrollment to build and maintain relationships with area schools as well as with educational access programs and educational consultants
- Assist with admission testing and student screening process
- Assist with the re-enrollment and new student enrollment
- Work with student admission ambassadors to ensure a meaningful leadership opportunity
- Incorporate the use of current trends, best practices, data, and quantitative analysis into the overall enrollment strategy
- Work collaboratively with internal departments including Advancement, Business, Athletics, Communications, and the Arts to engage prospective families and support enrollment and institutional goals
- Be an active and creative thought partner in the development of enrollment marketing and communications strategy
- Understand and support the mission of the school
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum 5 years of admission and enrollment management experience, preferably in a K-12 independent school setting
- Commitment to building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive school community
- Proficiency with student information systems and databases
- Demonstrated knowledge of the strategic relationships and levers that influence sustainable enrollment
- Strong work ethic combined with a high degree of professionalism and the ability to maintain absolute confidentiality and the integrity of the admission process
- Leadership skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, service-oriented office
- Demonstrated cultural competency skills to effectively communicate and collaborate across difference
- Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills and the ability to comfortably, warmly, and effectively engage with large and small groups of adults and/or students in professional or social settings
- Strong presentation skills
- Superlative organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work both as part of a team and independently to accomplish departmental and individual goals
- Positive energy, flexibility, and a desire to participate in the life of the school
- Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Veracross
- Experience with Financial Aid processes and procedures
- High-level proficiency in Spanish
