OUR SCHOOL
The Governor’s Academy, the oldest boarding school in New England, inspires and engages inquisitive students in ninth through twelfth grade. Our 456-acre campus is thirty miles north of Boston and five miles south of Newburyport, a classic New England coastal town. Govs has approximately 400 students and 250 employees.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Spanish teaching positions will have ongoing contact with and direct responsibility for students' academic and social life on campus (in loco parentis). With teaching faculty status comes the expectation of involvement in the lives of students on campus.

- Must show a demonstrated interest in social justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion work and have experience creating equitable, inclusive, and anti-racist spaces in their teaching.
COACHING POSITIONS:
The following coaching positions are open for the academic year 2023-24. It is not expected that coaching experience in these areas is required to apply to Spanish teaching positions.
- Boys Varsity Soccer head coach
- JV Girls Assistant Hockey coach
- Basketball - Girls and Boys Assistant JV/3rds Coaches
QUALIFICATIONS
B.A. or M.A in Spanish and/or native speaker fluency is preferred; Spanish teaching experience and ability to teach upper-level or AP courses preferred; interest in teaching or creating new, dynamic, and engaging Spanish courses preferred and encouraged; experience in coaching and/or playing interscholastic athletics, directing and/or experience on stage in the performing arts, or afternoon programs preferred; must be able to work collegially; must be committed to working in a diverse community and have the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations; must enjoy working with young people in a boarding school environment and have a valid driver’s license. The Academy requires all community members to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless with the exception of an Academy-approved medical or religious exemption.
