Position
A. Fantis is seeking a passionate, intelligent, and creative 5th Grade Teacher starting immediately with exceptional skills in pedagogy and a deep understanding of the field's content knowledge. The candidate should be eager to grow professionally and participate in a collaborative atmosphere focused on continual improvement. The position requires a strong knowledge of adolescent development, a passion for teaching, as well as fulfilling our school's mission and vision. Please note our faculty and student body are diverse, and being Greek Orthodox is NOT a requirement for this position.
Essential Duties
- Developing a positive, joyful, and structured classroom environment that engages and motivates students to achieve their fullest potential
- Fostering relationships with students, families and faculty
- Assuming responsibility for the progress of students with a high sense of urgency and ownership towards quantifiable results
- Developing creative lessons that correlate with our curriculum, goals, and objectives
- Collaborating with colleagues in various capacities, including planning, evaluating student growth, mentoring, and peer observations
- Using assessments, classroom performance and other tools to accurately monitor student progress and drive instruction
- Participating in ongoing professional development to grow as an instructional leader
- Fulfilling the school’s mission to educate the whole child—mind, body, and spirit
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a relevant field is preferred
- Elementary School teaching experience
- Vaccinated
- Capacity to accurately reflect on one’s practice and engage in a professional community that strives for continued excellence
- Ability to establish and maintain productive, collaborative relationships with others.
- Understanding of child development and the role of Social/Emotional learning in building positive, educational environments.
- Empathy, organization, and compassion
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills
- An open mind and sense of humor
