Greenwich Country Day School seeks a Human Resources Assistant to start in January 2023. This is a part-time, 12-month/year position. Preferred hours are Monday - Thursday, 8:00 - 12:00. This individual will provide administrative support to the Human Resources team in the hiring and onboarding process. The ideal candidate will possess a high degree of professionalism, organizational skills, and enthusiasm to engage with all members of the school community.
Responsibilities Include:
- Serve as the first point of contact for the Human Resources Department by answering phones and emails and providing a warm welcome for visitors
- Schedule interviews in coordination with candidates, administrative assistants, and all members of the hiring team
- Provide support in hosting candidates during campus visits
- Provide accommodations and travel support for candidates as needed
- Support Division with expense management and ensure that candidates are reimbursed for travel expenses on a timely basis
- Facilitate distribution and collection of pre-employment paperwork
- Perform background checks for all final-round candidates and newly hired employees including adjunct coaches, tutors, and substitutes
- Ensure that all HR files and records are complete with appropriate documentation; as well as maintain document retention schedule for departing employees
- Review benefits statements, housing data, retirement plans, and contributions for accuracy
- Assist with van license procurement and renewals
- Support in planning and implementation of the annual 2-day orientation program for all new employees
- Provide backup support for all aspects of weekly payroll
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree or demonstrated professional competency
- 3+ years of meaningful experience in an administrative support role, preferably within a human resources department or educational institution
- Strong computer skills
- Sense of urgency and a professional, personable demeanor
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, see tasks through to completion, and meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills in order to manage sensitive situations with professionalism
- Excellent organizational skills
- Proficiency with communications technology, including Google Docs, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to connect with all members of the community
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy in all aspects of work
- Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality and the integrity of all aspects of information disseminated within or external to the school community

- Cultural competency skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong database skills and knowledge of applicant tracking systems
- Spanish fluency or high level of proficiency
