Position Summary and Overview
The Churchill School & Center, a K-12 school for students with language-based learning disabilities, is seeking a High School Assistant Mathematics Teacher.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Embrace and model Churchill’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

- Abide by all applicable policies, procedures, and rules established by the school and as specified in the Churchill Staff Handbook.
- Support the head teacher with taking attendance each period, grading assignments, and the planning of math lessons and assignments.
- Contribute to the school’s professional learning community in accordance to the highest professional standards of the teaching profession.
- Work collaboratively with faculty members.
- Assist with preparation of student progress reports and IEPs.
- Attend professional development workshops provided by the school.
- Support students by

- scaffolding in-class assignments, tasks and projects
- helping them develop critical thinking, problem solving skills, and tools to self-advocate and be productive learners
- utilizing multimodal methods of teaching
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have...
- BA or BS Degree in an area of mathematics (a Master’s degree in Education, Special Education or a related field is helpful but not required)
- Knowledge of and interest in high school mathematics up to the Calculus level
- Experience building positive and appropriate relationships with people
- Familiarity with using a Texas Instruments Graphing Calculator
- Interest in professional career development in the field of education
- Patience, flexibility, good organization skills, and a sense of humor
Salary Range $40,000 – $47,000; commensurate with experience.
