The Overlake School, a well-regarded independent school in Redmond, WA seeks a charismatic, persuasive, and collaborative leader to become their next Director of Admissions & Financial Aid. Founded in 1967 as a nonsectarian, coeducational, college prep day school for 5th through 12th grade, Overlake is a strong and thriving community with a rigorous academic curriculum and an exceptional faculty. The students at Overlake are afforded significant independence starting in 5th grade and as they progress through the school, they become even more self-directed while having the safety net of a supportive community to encourage and bolster them.
Reporting to the Head of School, the Director of Admissions & Financial Aid must have high emotional intelligence, a welcoming personality, and a bent for data-driven analysis and decision-making. The Director will join the senior administrative team and will support Overlake’s strategic priorities in the execution of their role. One such priority is to increase the diversity of the applicant pool and ultimately the student body through innovative outreach, out-of-the-box thinking, and a deep commitment to ensuring that Overlake’s vision reflects in their student body for years to come. Overlake is a highly sought-after school and receives hundreds of applications each year for a fraction of open spots. The new Director will not rest on their laurels, but rather will proactively and aggressively look to find new prospective applicants in underserved communities in Seattle and the surrounding area. Additionally, Overlake is in the rare position of not consistently spending the entirety of their financial aid budget, and they regard this as a challenge to overcome in pursuit of their goal to become more diverse.

About The Overlake School
StratéGenius was founded in 2001 in Berkeley, California, and is one of the only BIPOC-owned search firms partnering exclusively with independent schools and small education nonprofits. From the start, StratéGenius’s core tenet has been, and remains: to promote and champion equity and belonging in education by improving diversity among independent school teachers and leaders. As an ever evolving organization, our understanding of “diversity” includes a growing number of dimensions including neurodiversity and gender identity, to name a few, in addition to race, class, and religious practice.
