Position: Elementary Director

Responsibilities:
- Supporting Daycroft’s elementary teachers (1st-6th Grade) and co-curricular programs with curriculum alignment and supporting Montessori best practices.
- Work with the Head Teacher to assess the material needs of each classroom and facilitate the purchasing and distribution of materials, staying within budget guidelines.
- Observe classrooms regularly to support curriculum alignment and professional development for Head Teachers and Associates.
- Ensures culturally responsive classroom guidelines and DEI goals are met. Support the Pollyanna racial literacy curriculum in all classrooms.
- Assist in the mentoring of Associate Teachers and support teachers get their Montessori certification.
- Coordinate bi-weekly faculty meetings to help align curriculum, projects, school themes, and student progress reports and facilitate overall school alignment.
- Participate in weekly administrative meetings to update the administrative team on the progress and needs of the elementary and co-curricular program.
- Help find and facilitate professional development programs that are appropriate for our teachers in the elementary and co-curricular programs.
- Create goals and evaluations of all elementary and co-curricular teachers.
- Organize and support parent education sessions on the Montessori philosophy of education and how parents can support their children at home.
- Help the Head of School with the implementation of the school’s strategic plan
- Support students with developmental needs. Act as liaison between classroom, learning specialist, and home.
- Organize the 6th-grade MMUN trip and support the 5-6 Teachers' planning and communication with parents.
- Coordinating classroom schedules for co-curricular classes and recess.
- Find substitutes when needed in the classrooms and co-curricular or fill in as needed in the classroom.
- Partner with admissions on evaluating potential students and helping with enrollment. Act as lead retention contact for all elementary students and support 5-6th grade families who are matriculating to a middle school program.
- Partner with marketing to highlight Daycroft’s elementary program. Attend local early elementary director meetings/calls.
- Partner with our Auxillary Director to help find before and aftercare help along with finding camp counselors in the summer for elementary programs.
- Partner with the Pre-Primary and Primary director to ensure alignment throughout the school.
- Coordinate with surrounding elementary Montessori schools to establish Montessori workshops that are beneficial to all programs.
- Visit other Montessori programs and share best practices between schools.
Requirements:
- AMS or AMI 6-12 Certification (Preferred)
- At least 6 years of teaching and leadership experience
- Strong understanding of the Montessori curriculum practices at the lower and upper elementary levels.
- Individuals must have strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
