Salary Details:
The stipend for this position is $8,000 for first-year Summer School teachers. Teachers returning to the program will receive a pay raise every year they return, for a maximum of $10,438.

Summer at Lakeside is currently recruiting for an Algebra II teacher. This is a graded course earning one year of credit. There will be two to three hours of homework assigned each day. Class runs June 26 – August 4, 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. No classes will be held July 4 for the national holiday. Monday, July 3 will be an online (asynchronous) learning workday. Students will be assigned approximately 5 hours of work to complete on that day. Classes July 5-July 7 will run 9am-2:30pm to make up the instructional time lost for the holiday. There will also be a mandatory orientation on Thursday, June 22.

Specific Responsibilities
- Create inclusive and culturally responsive curriculum for this course
- Create organized and engaging lesson plans for each day
- Supervise and instruct a diverse group of students that have different educational backgrounds and experiences
- Provide individual support and adapt different teaching strategies for students needing additional instruction
- Provide written mid-term and final comments for each student
Requirements and Qualifications
- Demonstrated cultural awareness, including knowledge of themselves and the cultural lenses they bring to interactions. The candidate will understand different perspectives; interact respectfully with cultures other than their own; and cultivate meaningful relationships with people that have different cultural frameworks.
- Prior experience working with a diverse student population and demonstrated equity and inclusion mindset. Candidates should be aware of their own identity and biases; candidate actively works to create an inclusive classroom environment.
- A bachelor’s degree, master’s degree in relevant field preferred
- Teaching experience with a diverse group of middle-school level, high-school level, or college-level students
- Experience with inclusive and multicultural curriculum development
- Candidates must satisfactorily complete two criminal background checks.
- Candidates must provide proof of vaccination and booster to human resources. Candidates requesting a medical and/or religious exemption should reach out to Human Resources.

Compensation and Benefits
The stipend for this position is $8,000 for first-year Summer School teachers. Teachers returning to the program will receive a pay raise every year they return, for a maximum of $10,438. Lunch is included. The course may only run if enough students register. Enrollment will remain open until June 1. If the number of students enrolled is too small to run by June 1, or if the course is cancelled for any reason, the stipend will not be paid.
