Position Summary and Overview
The Churchill School & Center, a K-12 school for students with language-based learning disabilities, is seeking a full time Photography & Graphic Design teacher for the High School division.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate commitment to Churchill’s mission and core values

- Establish a strong sense of community and culture to create a safe learning environment for all members of the learning space
- Individual responsibilities will vary based on the teacher's skills and interests, but candidates should have extensive classroom experience and a willingness to work collaboratively as part of a group of enthusiastic arts educators, across all content areas and divisions.
- Plan curriculum, lessons and assignments/projects and differentiate curriculum to meet the needs of the students
- Develop critical thinking, problem solving skills and tools for students to become independent learners
- Seek improved methods of teaching through professional conferences, readings, supervisory support, and evaluation of teaching results
- Attend relevant staff meetings as required
- Maintain student records (grading and grade books, report cards, behavior plans, conference notes, attendance, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have...
- BA or BS Degree (Degree in Arts Education, Special Education or related field preferred)
- MA or MS Degree (Degree in Arts Education, Special Education or related field preferred)
- NYS Teacher Certification
- Three or more years of classroom experience building positive and appropriate relationships with students
- Knowledge of, or willingness to continue higher levels of education to obtain knowledge of effective teaching strategies and methodologies for working with children with language-based learning disabilities.
- Familiarity with Smartboards, Google Drive, and technology in the classroom.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with digital photography, the Adobe Creative Suite and In-Design.
- Yearbook layout and large format printing experience are a plus.
- Patience, flexibility and a sense of humor.
- Candidate should be highly motivated and well organized.
Salary $60,000 - 80,000 Commensurate with experience
