Cheshire Academy seeks a full-time English and/or Theater teacher for the upcoming 2023-24 academic year.

In addition to original language, literature, and theater courses across the curriculum, Cheshire Academy offers IB English Literature, IB English Language & Literature, IB English Literature & Performance, and IB Theater as part of the International Baccalaureate diploma program. Experience with the IB is therefore a plus. Ideal candidates will also embrace an antiracist and inclusive mindset, demonstrate a commitment to education for global citizenship, and be excited about transforming curriculum and instruction to meet the needs of today’s learners.
Candidates should value a discussion-based classroom, possess a willingness to try out new and diverse texts, and approach the teaching of writing through individualized feedback over multiple drafts and revisions. This position may include English courses, theater courses, or a combination based on teacher expertise.
Minimally, this candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in English, theater, or a related subject. A Master’s degree, teaching credentials, and/or relevant teaching experience are preferred.
Other responsibilities include:
- Advising;
- Coaching and/or leading cocurricular activities (including theater);
- Weekend team responsibilities;
- Residential/dormitory duties (if housing is provided.)
- Must have a valid driver’s license with the ability to obtain a CT “A” endorsement for purposes of transporting students.
School provided housing is not guaranteed for the academic year of 2023-2024.
