JOB SUMMARY
Mount Saint Joseph Academy, a Roman Catholic, college prep, all-girls academy in Montgomery County, PA, is seeking an innovative and collaborative Communications and Media for a full-time position in our Communications Department. In the spirit of the mission of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Philadelphia, we believe that “On the education of women largely depends the future of society," and so empower young women to reach their fullest potential—the candidate will demonstrate a passion for this mission.
The Communications and Media Manager is responsible for creating, managing and maintaining media content that tells the story of Mount Saint Joseph Academy, both in print and digitally. As a member of the school’s Marketing Communications Department, the Communications and Media Manager will be chiefly responsible for keeping information on the school’s website and social media accounts current and reflective of the Mount’s mission, as well as designing/creating webpages and other website content. The Media Manager will also write, edit, and distribute the Academy’s weekly newsletter and update and maintain the Communication’s email database. The Media Manager will provide communications and media support through both photography and videography; copywriting and editing; and will interact and engage with various school constituencies using these skills.
JOB DESCRIPTION
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and maintain content on www.msjacad.org
- Provide photography and video coverage of school and student events
- Write and edit content for the Mount Weekly Update newsletter, the website and the Mount’s bi-annual magazine and other digital/print materials
- Manage all Mount social media channels, creating current and impactful content,
maintaining branding consistency, and enforcing the Mount’s social media policy.
- In collaboration with Vice President of Communications & Enrollment Management:
- Design and create event invitations and programs
- Format and distribute electronic communications to school families and stakeholders
- Oversee professional photographers/videographers, graphic designers, and other consultants/firms, as needed
- Produce Mount Magazine, including developing a content map and production schedule, writing articles and captions, editing, and managing photography
- Write and distribute news releases on student and school accomplishments and events
- Maintain online database of all constituents
- Report website analytics
- Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Communications and Enrollment Marketing
QUALIFICATIONS
- An appreciation for the mission of Mount Saint Joseph Academy and an understanding and commitment to these values
- Strong written communication skills, including writing, editing and proofreading in compliance with the AP Style Book
- Superior photography and videography skills
- Proficiency in word processing, database, and other business-related software
- Solid understanding of photo and video editing
- Experience with social media management and design software
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Sound judgment and professional demeanor with students, colleagues, and parents
- Willingness and desire to engage and collaborate with students, staff, and the community
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Business or related field is required (or equivalent work experience)
- 2 or more years of experience in photography, video-editing, and other graphics design modes
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- 3 or more years of experience in Communications or related field
- 3 or more years of experience managing or assisting in the management of a website’s content management system highly preferred; Finalsite experience a plus
- Experience with CRM software highly preferred
- Graphic design experience a plus
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Prolonged periods standing, walking, sitting, reaching, and computer/technology-use throughout the working period
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds as needed
