Renbrook School (West Hartford, CT), an independent day school for children age three to grade eight, seeks a full-time, experienced Director of Enrollment and Financial Aid to begin in Summer 2023. The Director of Enrollment and Financial Aid reports to the Head of School and coordinates admission and retention efforts to maintain full enrollment for the school. The Director works collaboratively with the Advancement Team (including the Director of Marketing and Communications and the Director of Alumni and Development to market the School to prospective families using a variety of media. The Director is a valuable voice on the Leadership Team and a regular presenter at Board meetings.
Admission
The Director and the Admission Team, consisting of a Director of Lower School Admission and the Admission Office Manager, are a prospective family’s first experience with Renbrook. Each step of the admission process is carefully crafted to identify and attract mission-aligned families, understand each family’s unique story and interests, and then craft an experience to meet their needs. The Admission Team has created a nimble and creative approach that is ever-evolving, including our successful Walk-In Wednesday program, winter Fly-up Night, Priority Enrollment, and initiatives designed to support newly enrolled families as they transition to the Renbrook community. The Director leads the Admissions Committee, consisting of the Heads of the Beginning School, Lower School, and Upper School, and the Head of School to admit qualified students and coordinate yield efforts.
Retention
Working closely with the Division Heads and Learning Support Team, the Director coordinates the retention efforts of the school. These responsibilities consist of direct leadership of formal programming and the coordination of informal information-gathering and relationship maintenance and enhancement.
Financial Aid
Working with the Head of School and the Chief Financial Officer, the Director uses need-based financial aid and Renbrook’s Merit Aid Program to attract and enroll a talented, mission-aligned student body.
Key Responsibilities:
- To develop a comprehensive strategy to achieve annual and long-range enrollment objectives and financial aid goals.
- To work with the admission team to conceptualize and execute innovative enrollment initiatives, including admission activities, external outreach, retention efforts, and referral programs.
- To maintain, analyze, and track enrollment and retention trends and results of initiatives, and then report those to the Leadership Team and Board of Trustees.
- To work closely with the CFO on enrollment and tuition revenue projections.
- To collaborate with the Director of Marketing and Communications to plan promotional efforts for events and to collaborate on effective messaging in the marketplace.
- To oversee the re-enrollment process in collaboration with the Admission Office Manager.
- To review and revise financial aid policies and procedures, actively communicate those policies to families, and to observe confidentiality and sensitivity in all interactions.
- To enlist the support of our strong group of parent and student volunteers in admission initiatives.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, advanced degree preferred
- Five years of significant and relevant experience in admission and some exposure to the financial aid process
- Demonstrated leadership in developing and implementing enrollment strategies
- Excellent communication skills (speaking, writing, listening)
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge and experience in PK-8 or K-12 schools
- Demonstrated success in hiring, managing, and developing direct reports
- Comfort with a range of technology skills, including email, database management, word processing, Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive), and social media
