Indian Creek School is an independent, co-ed day school in which 560 students age 3 to Grade 12 partner with innovative teachers in an outstanding educational program. This position is full time, 10-month position reporting to the Upper School Principal.
Responsibilities:
- Teach four sections of Upper School (Grades 9-12) Humanities. This could include courses in the English, History, or Interdisciplinary departments including ICS's signature Grade 9 required interdisciplinary course: "The History & Science of our World".
- Work with the Upper School principal and the Upper School team to ensure a positive and engaging Upper School experience for students
- Collaborate with Humanities colleagues who are committed to building reading, writing, analytical, and communication skills while centering diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Develop and deliver interdisciplinary learning experiences.
- Differentiate through multiple strategies including for enrichment and intervention.
- Use a variety of assessments, such as student portfolios and project-based learning to measure student understanding and drive instruction.
- Provide feedback on student assignments in a timely and constructive manner.
- Serve as an academic advisor to a group of students.
- Maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Attend all divisional, departmental, and school faculty meetings including professional development days.
- Desire to be actively engaged in the work of innovative teaching, diversity and inclusion, and ongoing professional growth
- Other duties as assigned by the Upper School Principal.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree (Master’s preferred)
- A strong desire and genuine excitement for work with high school students
- Content knowledge in English, History. Preferred: interest and content knowledge in Earth Science.
- Preferred: experience teaching Upper School Humanities.
- Educational philosophy that aligns with the mission and vision of Indian Creek School.
- Resilient, mission-driven, and proactive in creating a supportive learning environment for students.
- Collaborative by nature, and an effective communicator with students, teachers, administrators, and families.
- Proficiency in technology, including Microsoft products.
- Coaching and/or Outdoor Education experience very helpful.
- Federal and State Background Check clearance along with MSDE employment history review
