Responsibilities:

  • Teach four sections of Upper School (Grades 9-12) Humanities. This could include courses in the English, History, or Interdisciplinary departments including ICS's signature Grade 9 required interdisciplinary course: "The History & Science of our World".
  • Work with the Upper School principal and the Upper School team to ensure a positive and engaging Upper School experience for students
  • Collaborate with Humanities colleagues who are committed to building reading, writing, analytical, and communication skills while centering diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Develop and deliver interdisciplinary learning experiences.
  • Differentiate through multiple strategies including for enrichment and intervention.
  • Use a variety of assessments, such as student portfolios and project-based learning to measure student understanding and drive instruction.
  • Provide feedback on student assignments in a timely and constructive manner.
  • Serve as an academic advisor to a group of students.
  • Maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Attend all divisional, departmental, and school faculty meetings including professional development days.
  • Desire to be actively engaged in the work of innovative teaching, diversity and inclusion, and ongoing professional growth
  • Other duties as assigned by the Upper School Principal.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree (Master’s preferred)
  • A strong desire and genuine excitement for work with high school students
  • Content knowledge in English, History. Preferred: interest and content knowledge in Earth Science.
  • Preferred: experience teaching Upper School Humanities.
  • Educational philosophy that aligns with the mission and vision of Indian Creek School.
  • Resilient, mission-driven, and proactive in creating a supportive learning environment for students.
  • Collaborative by nature, and an effective communicator with students, teachers, administrators, and families.
  • Proficiency in technology, including Microsoft products.
  • Coaching and/or Outdoor Education experience very helpful.
  • Federal and State Background Check clearance along with MSDE employment history review
