The Leadership Gift Officer is responsible for identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of leadership prospects and donors. This position is an essential partner in expanding the pipeline of leadership donors in support of annual giving, planned giving and institutional priorities. The Leadership Gift Officer reports to the Director of Development.
ABOUT THE POSITION
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Manages a portfolio of 150-200 leadership annual giving, major gift, and planned gift prospects capable of making leadership Annual Fund gifts of $1,813+ and gifts of $50,000+ for institutional priorities.
- Conducts 15-20 in-person and virtual visits per month.
- Writes timely contact reports and other pertinent communications following donor/prospect visits.
- Ensures timely preparation of proposals, stewardship materials and reports for donor and prospects in partnership with colleagues.
- Works as a key member of the Advancement team, participating in regular managed prospect review meetings to identify new prospects and to plan cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies for prospects.
- Working with key volunteers and other staff, coordinates strategies for annual, capital, and planned giving solicitations for leadership gifts prospects.
- Collaborates with the Director of the Annual Fund and other team members to strategize next steps for donor movement and identifies creative opportunities for cultivation and stewardship of existing donors.
- Assists in the development and execution leadership giving operations, data analysis, and reporting.
- Collaborates with and engages fundraising volunteers in relationship-building and solicitation processes.
- Assists with special projects as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Development.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of successful fundraising experience. Annual Fund experience preferred.
- A results-oriented individual, who demonstrates the ability to work well with people at all levels of an organization, develops relationships with diverse constituencies, and simultaneously employs keen judgment has the best opportunity for success.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles and practices associated with fundraising in independent schools, including direct mail, social media, reunion giving and donor relations.
- Strong database and data analytic skills.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Volunteer management experience preferred.
- Raiser’s Edge experience preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Advanced use of MS Office applications required.
- Ability to work independently and follow established procedures.
- High professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information.
- Work on occasional nights and weekends to support Advancement and institutional event needs.
