The Elisabeth Morrow School seeks a temporary science and STEAM teacher for grades 1–4 from February 1–April 30, 2023.
Essential duties
- Plan and implement student-centered lessons within curricular guidelines that will be provided by the current teacher
- Encourage individual excellence in each student
- Demonstrate warmth, collegiality, humor, and support in interactions with students and colleagues
- Maintain anecdotal records and confer with the head of lower school as needed
- Collaborate with homeroom teachers on project-based learning on an as-needed basis
- Additional responsibilities for this position include lunch and recess coverage, carline duty, and other non-teaching duties
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in the field of science and/or education
- An advanced degree and/or independent school experience is a plus
- Experience in teaching students in grades 1–4
- The ability to infuse diversity, equity, and inclusion into science education
- The ability to implement and help create a highly engaging, interactive, experiential science program
- The ability to use technology to enhance teaching and learning
- Knowledge of child development and best practices for students in grades one through four
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- The ability to work with a range of learning styles
*Note: The Elisabeth Morrow School will be closed for spring break from March 28–April 7, 2023
