SUMMARY
The Innovation Lab Manager will play a key role in the Design & Innovation program at Greenhill. The person in this position will be responsible for building relationships with students and adults who are part of the Innovation Lab @ Greenhill. Duties will include but not be limited to safety management, lab upkeep, material ordering, assisting students and adults with technical projects, assisting with lab tours and exemplifying the values of Innovation.
This is a full-time, 10-month, exempt position. Some evening and weekend work is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Make the Innovation space an inviting, open and safe space for all the Greenhill community.
- Assist students, faculty, and the community to be successful in their projects by providing expertise and experience.
- Train students and faculty on tools and equipment within the Innovation space.
- Be a mentor to students.
- Maintain the Innovation lab facilities. This includes but is not limited to:
- Maintain (and repair when necessary) lab equipment
- Order routine and project supplies
- Manage and track of safety training for all lab users
- Manage project storage
- Maintain a clean and safe lab for all users
- Work collaboratively with the Innovation team and the Greenhill faculty and staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Shop and/or maker space experience.
- Knowledge and skill of basic machine and hand tools.
- Knowledge of basic electricity and electronics.
- A collaborative, inquisitive and tinkering mentality.
- Knowledge of and experience with safe shop practices.
- A positive attitude and the willingness to approach learning new skills in flexible and creative ways.
- Associates degree in technology, manufacturing, model making, programming or similar STEM field.
- 5+ years in a shop or makerspace environment.
- Experience with CNC equipment, laser cutters, 3D printing, programming, AC and DC electromechanical systems.
- Experience teaching or mentoring and working in teams.
