We are seeking an additional full-time Music Teacher to collaborate with our current Music Teacher, to share the population of Grades 1-9 music instruction.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Teaching all students in either Lower School (Grade 1 to Grade 5) or Upper School (Grade 6 to Grade 9) once a week (Full-Time includes 12-18 hours instruction time)
• Collaborating with Music Teacher in other Division (Lower or Upper school) to plan for Concerts, and Shows.
• Developing appropriate curriculum for each grade level
• Collaborating with classroom teachers to put together interdisciplinary projects
• Promoting the culture of a bilingual, international school
• Attending relevant parent events (for example, back to school night) as determined by the Division Head
• Assessing all students through bi-annual report cards
• Working with all teachers to follow students’ overall progress
• Projecting a professional and positive demeanor at all times

We are seeking a candidate with:

• A passion for teaching music to children
• The enthusiasm and innovation to be able to offer a variety of music options to students (instrumental, chorale)
• Musician with knowledge and expertise in the field of teaching music, with continued attention to current research about music education
• Effective interpersonal skills for department, colleague, and parent communication
• Strong written and oral skills
• A desire to encourage the musical strengths of individual students and the ability to adapt instruction for various learning styles

Education: Bachelor or Master's (Preferred)

Language: English (Required), French (Optional, but Preferred)

Founded in 1980 as a one-classroom preschool, the French-American School of New York (FASNY) has offered the best in bilingual education for local francophone families and expatriate students for more than forty years.
