Randolph School is seeking an innovative preschool assistant teacher with a growth mindset to nurture and prepare children (ages 4-5) for a smooth transition to the kindergarten classroom setting. A preschool assistant teacher must have a great love and patience for children. The goal is to contribute to the healthy mental and emotional development of the child so they can thrive in their next level of education. The assistant teacher is responsible for assisting in the implementation of the daily program under the direction of the lead teacher
The ideal candidate will:
- Love and nurture children within a supportive and inclusive environment
- Supervise the classroom when the lead teacher is out of the room
- Help with general housekeeping, classroom organization, and snack/lunch prep
- Listen to, observe, value, and respond to children’s competencies and interests to build upon them and encourage student learning and develop their social-emotional growth
- Follow directions given by lead teacher or immediate supervisor
- Work with children individually and in large and small groups
- Provide classroom and playground coverage for teachers as needed
- Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play
- Prepare materials and classrooms necessary to implement provided curriculum and creative activities
- Proficient in technology and web-based tools
- Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence
- Communicate effectively and build strong, professional relationships with all school constituents
- Perform other related duties assigned by the lead teacher
The assistant preschool teacher will participate collaboratively and professionally with other faculty and staff to promote the general well-being of the Lower School and the school community in a manner that supports and promotes the mission of Randolph School. The assistant preschool teacher will be expected to be actively involved in the school’s full program which may involve sponsoring a club, chaperoning field trips, serving on faculty committees, and attending school events.
Education Qualifications: High school degree or GED, Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education preferred.
