GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Roland Park Country school is seeking a full-time Upper School STEM teacher for the 2023-2024 school year. The ideal candidate will have a STEM-focused background and will be eager to take on teaching opportunities that include building, fabricating and programming.
This position will work directly with the Director of the Holliday Heine STEM Institute. The Holliday Heine STEM Institute aims to foster in students the habits of mind that will enable them to solve complex problems. STEM students are offered a certificate concentration through interdisciplinary STEM electives, accelerated coursework, and authentic research by way of summer fellowships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach STEM courses with a concentration on engineering design.
- Collaborate with STEM colleagues to develop and teach project-based curriculum.
- Support students on projects and tools in the Innovation Lab.
- Serve as an academic advisor and/or advisor to student extracurricular activities.
Core Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate technology in content delivery/skill development.
- Experience with inquiry-based learning and modeling instructional pedagogies.
- A commitment to culturally competent teaching.
- Growth mindset, flexibility, and openness to collaboration and feedback.
- Passion for STEM education.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduate degree in a STEM field.
- Preferred 3 or more demonstrated years of excellence in teaching.
- Computer programming or robotics experience.
- Familiarity with the challenges women and people of color face in STEM.
- A strong desire to help educate courageous scholars.
