The Bishop John T. Walker School for Boys seeks an instructional coach who will support the instructional excellence and professional development of our Teaching Residency for Equity and Engagement (TREE) Fellows and dynamic Classroom Lead Teachers (K-5) for the 2023-2024 school year. Our TREE Fellows are early career, returning, or career-changing educators who seek to develop into excellent lead instructors. The Instructional coach supports two TREE Fellows and six Classroom lead teachers as described below:
Duties and Responsibilities:
Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment

Serve as a partner with teachers in matters of teaching methods, assessment and curriculum implementation, including, but not limited to responding to needs in formal and informal teacher observations, modeling lessons, goal-setting for improved practice, suggesting culturally responsive content and practices, research and training in approaches to assessment, differentiated instruction, and data collection.

Coordinate and suggest additional methods and opportunities for teacher collaboration, instructional integration and multidisciplinary unit/course development in order to create a more purposeful and connected curriculum

Coordinate with the Assistant Head of School to gather, maintain, securely store, and analyze academic data as needed to support student academic progress and teacher evaluation

In partnership with Assistant Head of School and Lead Teachers liaise with the technology services on the implementation and evaluation of instructional technology needs
Professional Development

In collaboration with Assistant Head of School, develop, organize, and promote a professional development program for the TREE Fellowship, including, but not limited to professional development days, reviewing reports of TREE Fellows who have attended professional development programs, development and maintenance of a cycle of required topics to be addressed in professional development, and building of a 2-year calendar of professional days and topics.

Coordinate, monitor, and reflect on individual TREE professional development plans, short and long term goals, as well as their overall progress

Attend and support the planning and launch of academic events, as assigned

Model appropriate teacher leadership actions and behavior among the faculty

Partner with Family Engagement Team and socioemotional wellness contractors to support the success of scholars as a whole child
Recruitment, Hiring, and Retention of Faculty
Qualifications:
-
Master’s degree in an educational/related field, with a minimum of 5 years’ teaching experience required

Active researcher of best pedagogical practices, innovative teaching methods, and assessment required

Experience with differentiated instructional practices and/or a background in special education preferred

Educational ideology consistent with that of the school

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and organizational
-
Leadership and coaching style that perpetuates collegiality and collaboration while exhibiting enthusiasm and a positive attitude
