Job Summary:
BB&N is seeking an Upper School librarian (or library student) to cover a leave of absence. Primary responsibilities include assisting with student research projects, staffing the circulation desk, and assisting with other library tasks. The librarian collaborates closely with colleagues in the library and in all departments to design and implement lessons and units of instruction.
Skills and Competencies:
The ideal candidate will have, or be working towards, a master’s degree from a program accredited by the American Library Association (or from a Master’s level program in library and information studies accredited or recognized by the appropriate national body of another country.) Candidates must be able to guide students through the research process and therefore must demonstrate research skills and experience, as well as familiarity with databases. Candidates will need to collaborate with colleagues in the creation of and implementation of research classes for students.
In addition, the candidate will demonstrate the following:
- Up-to-date knowledge of information literacy practices and instruction;
- Expertise in the selection, acquisition, evaluation, and organization of information resources and technologies in all formats, as well as expertise in the ethical use of information.
