JOB DESCRIPTION AND DETAILS:
Beyond the classroom, expectations include fulfilling assigned duties as required; communicating effectively with students and parents; and working collaboratively with other science teachers in the department, as well as division colleagues and administrators. Teachers serve as advisors, mentors, and role models responsible for preserving a positive learning environment and the well-being of all of our students; committing to academic excellence and supporting our Global Education and Diversity institutional priorities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful applicant will have demonstrated the following experience and abilities:
- Successful teaching experience with the capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning, assessment, and classroom management practices.
- Knowledge of curriculum, pedagogy, differentiation, and assessment with the ability to implement quality, inclusive teaching, and learning programs.
- In-depth of knowledge in Biology, preferably with experience in teaching specialized courses such as Forensics, Microbiology and Molecular Biology.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, parents, staff, and colleagues.
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively to support teaching and learning.
- Desire to pursue ongoing professional development, making the most of the opportunities both within and outside the school to improve teaching and to demonstrate for the girls the value of lifelong learning.
- Demonstrated high levels of enthusiasm for teaching and learning, striving to engender a joy of learning in all students.
- A passion for developing deep understanding of Biological concepts, as well as student application of concepts learned.
- Ability to work collaboratively with grade level teachers on curriculum development and implementation of units, assessments, and assignments for team taught courses.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Education or Biology, with a graduate degree, preferred.
- Experience teaching at the upper school level, preferably at an all-girls school.
- Understanding or growing knowledge of competency-based teaching and learning.
