Head Lifeguard/Swim Program Manager
The Summer@Baldwin Summer Camp is hiring a pool manager who will also serve as a head
lifeguard/pool manager to join our 2023 Summer Camp! The Head Lifeguard/Swim Program Manger is responsible for teaching, planning, and evaluating swimming lessons, guarding the pool during open swimming, ensuring the safety of all people in the pool area, supporting and overseeing lifeguards and swim instructors, and learning procedures to maintain the cleanliness of the pool facility. This position will oversee and enhance the safety protocols of the camp's daily aquatic related activities. Our camp runs Monday through Friday, June 19th-August 4th. This position will start June 5th, part-time to start. The person in this position must be able to commit to the seven weeks of camp.
Responsibilities:
? Ensure all class participants are visible and safe at all times.
? Adapt teaching approaches to the age, experience and ability of participants.
? Ensure and teach water safety.
? Evaluates conditions for safety and initiates aquatics emergency action plan as required.
? Inspects pool facilities, equipment, and water to ensure that they are safe and usable.
? Teach daily swim instruction to campers grades Pre-K-8th grade with different ability levels.
? Complete additional duties as assigned by the Camp Director.
? Assist with training and supervising lifeguard staff
? Conducting and leading in-services and safety trainings
? Plan, develop, evaluate and deliver swimming lessons
Requirements:
? Must be at least twenty (20) years of age
? High school or equivalent (College Degree Preferred)
? At least 3 years of lifeguard/swim instructor experience required
? Supervision experience preferred
? Previous experience working with children
? Must have certifications: Current American Red Cross Lifeguard or Water Safety Instructor
certification and First Aid Certification, Current American Red Cross CPR/AED
? Hours are typically from 9:00am-4:00pm; Monday - Friday
? Push/pull, lift and carry a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds across campus. Be upright, and
mobile for an extended period of time.
? Must have the physical capability to see (near and far), climb, bend, swim, float, kneel and carry
individuals during rescue operations
? Prior teaching experience is a plus
