Job Summary:

If you enjoy teaching science then Catlin Gabel School in Portland, OR is looking for you!  This is an interim role that involves teaching three year-long sections of science classes for high school grades.  This could include year-long courses and semester electives or a combination of semester-long courses equivalent to three year-long courses. The successful candidate may teach biology, chemistry and physics in our foundational ninth and tenth grade classes, and/or offer an advanced level elective courses in their area of subject expertise.

Other responsibilities would include:

• Creating a safe and inclusive classroom environment
• Working with students to help them develop mindsets and skills like curiosity, creativity, teamwork, resilience, empathy, independence, time management, and responsible decision making
• Developing, planning and lead or co-lead experiential learning courses with colleagues

  Salary:  $35,838.88-$66,347.35

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required; master’s degree preferred
• At least three years of demonstrated effective teaching experience with high school students
• Experience and interest in mathematics preferred
• Experience in competency-based curriculum design and assessment preferred

Catlin Gabel School is a coeducational, independent day school located on 54 acres in the West Hills neighborhood of Portland, Oregon formed in 1957 by the merger of the Catlin Hillside School, which had been founded as Miss Catlin’s School in 1911, and the Gabel Country Day School, whose roots extend to 1859 with the founding of The Portland Academy.
