Marymount School of New York is seeking an experienced artist/art educator to join our Upper School faculty. Marymount's art program provides foundational and advanced skill development, multiple outlets for self-expression, and opportunities for in-depth study. The ideal candidate is an artist who is organized, energetic, flexible, caring, collaborative, and passionate about helping students pursue artistic endeavors with joy, intention, and skill.
Teaching responsibilities include teaching foundations in drawing, painting, and sculpture; advanced graphic/2-D design, advanced drawing, and portfolio oversight. Collaboration with fellow teachers and an interest in curriculum design and development are essential. As Marymount values innovation and inter-disciplinary thinking, candidates should be open to exploring applications of art in the fields of art history, humanities, and engineering/design. Full-time Upper School teachers also serve as academic advisors to approximately eight students and moderate at least one student club or activity.
We seek candidates with the following qualifications:
- Master’s degree in fine arts or art education
- Experience teaching high school art; experience teaching AP Art and Design a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in portfolio and exhibition development
- Ability to vary instructional methods
