North Shore Country Day, a progressive, academically rigorous, co-ed, JK-12 independent school near Chicago, seeks candidates for a lower school lead teacher opening beginning at the start of the 2023-24 academic year. The incoming teacher will partner with another grade level homeroom teacher to deliver instruction in English/Language Arts, mathematics, social studies, and social/emotional learning. North Shore is eager to consider applications from groups traditionally underrepresented in independent school communities.
While a bachelor’s degree is required, a master’s degree in education is preferred. Candidates should have two or more years of teaching experience. Additionally, we seek candidates with interest in working in a highly collaborative team environment and who demonstrate keen insight into the development of their students as individuals and learners. Ideal candidates will have a track record of being passionate advocates for their students, effective classroom managers, and cultivators of the ‘growth mindset.’ This individual must also partner well with parents, demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, be a collaborative, valued colleague and a life-long learner who is committed to their ongoing professional development.
