Physical Education Teacher

POSITION SUMMARY
Physical Education Teacher with a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or related and at least one year of experience with elementary, middle, and high school children. In addition, the following skills: ensure positive environment, communicate effectively, maintain accurate record keeping.
The Physical Education Teacher is dedicated, student focused and committed to providing an interactive learning environment. The Physical Education Teacher collaborates with all members of the school community to meet the needs of students and promote the philosophy of school.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Physical Education Teacher’s responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:
- Creating and implementing physical education curriculum.
- Confirming all home and away games by phone or email the week before an event.
- Assist Athletic Director with collecting and checking all forms each season.
- Send emails to all players and parents about changes in schedules and cancellations.
- Following up by email the day before on transportation confirmations or cancellations.
- Proofreading and verifying information for all documents in English.
- Will be present at and assist the Athletic Director during athletic events.
- Motivate and guide children.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Experience coaching, refereeing, or working in youth sports programs preferred.
- Ability to work with volunteers, youth, and families from a variety of backgrounds.
- Experience in data entry, MS Word and Excel.
- Must pass a national background and fingerprinting check.
- Passionate about Sports and Student learning.
EDUCATION: BA in Physical Education (Masters preferred).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to function under fast paced and noisy conditions; May require being active for long periods of time; hear and understand speech at normal levels; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly; physical agility to push, pull, lift and or carry up to 50 pounds.

The Physical Education Teacher position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement.
