There is an opening for a College Counselor/Test Coordinator at Fayetteville Academy. The position is full-time and will begin on August 8, 2023.
Position Expectations
This position includes working closely with students and their families, the Director of College Counseling, and the Upper School Director. Specific duties include:
- Supporting the Director of College Counseling and the School Counselor
- Serving as the School Liaison for:
- Summer Ventures Science and Math program
- HOBY
- Revolution Prep
- NC Governor’s School
- The NCAA
- Educate Upper School students regarding the NCAA Eligibility Center,
provide instructions for - Creating EC accounts, upload transcripts, serving as the POC for student athletes and coaches
- Manage transcript requests, providing oversight to ensure students have completed all required EC tasks
- Process and track student accommodations, determine the eligibility of applicants
- Test Coordinator duties include serving as the school’s Test Coordinator, which oversees the scheduling and coordination of all standardized test pre-administration sessions, and facilitates PSAT, PreACT, PSAT 10, SAT, ACT, and AP Exams. The position also includes working closely with the Admissions Director in coordination of school entrance exams.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have at least a bachelor’s degree (with a master’s degree
preferred) and at least three to five years in test coordination or college counseling. Independent school experience is preferable, though all candidates who enjoy collaborating with faculty and working with students throughout the college counseling process are encouraged to apply.
Effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues is essential, with attention to detail and deadlines, organization, the ability to maintain confidentiality, and comfort with technology (as testing has become increasingly digitized) are critical to the success of this position. Problem solving and critical thinking skills, a sense of humor, and enthusiasm, are desirable aspects of the successful candidate.
This role requires adhering to the procedures and guidelines of the College Board and other testing agencies, particularly as it relates to conflict of interest in the role of coordinator or proctor.
